Abstract
In modern times, high-quality food is of great importance, which includes meat products as an integral part. The production of meat products depends on the state and development of domestic animal husbandry and its processing, which is very important in the context of the competitiveness of the meat industry in the context of import substitution. Meat products are part of the state strategic reserve, and their development makes a significant contribution to the formation of the country's food and national security. Taking into account the importance of meat and meat products, its sustainable growth and increasing the competitiveness of domestic enterprises in the meat industry should be a priority of the state's food policy. The article examines the current state of the meat industry in Kazakhstan, exports, imports, foreign trade turnover of meat products, as well as existing meat processing enterprises and their average annual output capacity. The main component of the article is the assessment of import substitution of meat products in the Republic of Kazakhstan for a separate range of meat products. In addition, we have identified acute problems of the livestock industry, meat processing enterprises and proposed possible ways to improve the meat industry in the context of import substitution, developed an economic and mathematical model for predicting factors affecting the meat industry in Kazakhstan.
